Sensei Ampie Horn a Karate Instructor 2nd Dan JKI who trained under Sensei Wollie, traveled to Japan where he started training in Yoshinkan Aikido at the Yoshinkan School of Aikido under Founder Kancho Gozo Shioda.
He then came back to South Africa, where he started the first School of Aikido & Self-defence. He teamed up with Sensei Wollie who was training in Kodokwan Aikido under Shihan Ronnie 5th Dan and Sensei Neil Scheepers 5th Dan.
Kodokwan Aikido and Yoshinkan Aikido both where under the National Aikido and Martial Arts Foundation of South Africa (NAMASA).
Yoshinkai School of Aikido South Africa (YSASA) was established and Sensei Ampie and Sensei Wollie started opening branch clubs all across South Africa.
Sensei Ampie eventually stopped teaching and immigrated and Sensei Wollie continued to teach Yoshinkan Aikido. He eventually contacted the Yoshinkai Aikido Foundation Yoshinkan Aikido International Division in Japan where he traveled to Japan and continued his training in Yoshinkan Aikido under Gozo Shioda where he was eventually graded 8th Dan.
Shihan Dr. Wollie started the Yoshinkan Aikido Foundation of South Africa (YAFSA) in 1989.
Sensei Robert Baker 3rd Dan Chief Instructor Brakpan Branch Instructor, is where Terence Teraine started training in 1993 until Robert’s passing end of 1999.
Here Senpai Terence opened his dojo called Tenchi Dojo School of Martial Arts & Self-defence established April 2000.
Terence continued his training under Sensei Otto Pretorius 3rd Dan Chief Instructor and Sensei Jaqcues Van der Westuizen 2nd Dan Senior Instructor from 2000 until the dojo was closed late 2002.
Terence attended a 4 day camp of 6-8 hours per day training under Shihan Dr Wollie Wolmarans 8th Dan and Sensei Sarel Marais 5th Dan here he had to re-test brown belt in Yoshinkan Aikido in 2000.
Terence attended another 4 day camp of 6-8 hours per day training, here he was graded Black Belt 1st Dan Shodan and Sensei in Yoshinkan Aikido by Shihan Dr Wollie Wolmarans and Sensei Sarel.
Sensei Terence attended another 4 day camp of 6-8 hours per day in 2002, and a other 4 day camp of 6-8 hours per day same year in 2002 here he was promoted to 2nd Dan Senior Instructor by Shihan Dr Wollie and Sensei Sarel.
Sensei Terence attended another camp in 2004 of 8-10 hours per day training, here he was promoted to 3rd Dan Chief Instructor by Shihan Dr Wollie, Sensei Sarel and guest instructor Shihan Dr Guido Weisinger 7th Dan Chief Instructor All Israel.
Sensei Terence was promoted to Shihan 6th Dan Yoshinkan Aikido Chief Instructor All Africa by Hanshi Dr Karel “Wollie” Wolmarans 10th Dan Chief Instructor All Africa in 2024.
